It's been awhile, a long while. But that is the great thing about this, I didn't do it for anyone but me. I am now beginning to write again because I have challenged myself to make a positive change in my life. I am resolved to succeed.
I have been experience problems with digestion now for almost 8 months. I have gone to the doctors several times and haven't had anything very concrete come up. I am currently on medication which seems to be helping to some extent, but I've found what helped the most was eating better, and actually watching the quantity I consume.
I have a habit of stuffing myself full to the point of being sick at almost every meal. I prioritize food like no other. So about 2 weeks ago I begin counting calories. This so far has been the best I've made in a long time. However this weekend I failed. Hard, a birthday party, lots of beer, a late night large poutine and a pub dinner, put me at well over double my recommended caloric intake for the day (based on my calorie tracking program I am using).
That being said. I had lots of fun. So meh.
I've realised today though that I have very little going on in the next 2 weeks minus work and a visit from a very motivated and motivational friend on the weekend who is also counting calories and exercising. So I've decided to challenge myself. I am going to consume the healthiest food I can come up with (That I'll actually eat) for 2 weeks, and try to stay slightly under my calorie goal.
I will post my starting weight and measurements later today. WISH ME LUCK EVERYONE
I'll try to share my favourite recipes!

In Pursuit of Passion

I played a song
I PLAYED A SONG.
Ok so it was just one verse.
and it was Smoke on The Water
but I mean, hey, it's a start.
This is a great hobby albeit hard to stick with, from what I've been hearing. For a hobby, not all that bad for price.
Here's a quick summary of my purchases so far:
Strings ($5)
String winder ($10)
Capo ($20)
Picks ($5 for like 40)
Guitar ($50 used, mine was a gift :))
all in all if you are someone who can learn off Youtube, and not have to purchase learning materials, relatively low start up cost!
Be wary though it's quite a learning curve.

Geeetar
Hello Faithful fan of one!
It's been awhile since I've posted, ironically enough its because I've found something interesting to do! Since I've been gone, I've travelled, I've started learning a language, I've taken up playing the guitar, and been exercising regularly. Gone are the nights that I could sit in my room diligently doing nothing and dwelling on the harsh reality of life.
For those of you started to learn the guitar, its a blast, relatively inexpensive hobby but has quite a steep learning curve and I've found its difficult to learn alone.
My lovely lady bought me a guitar for my birthday almost a year ago now and it sat quietly neglected in the corner like a misbehaved child on timeout. In my defence I DID purchase some intro guitar lesson books and started playing, but, I mean come ON how fun is that. (it's really not if you didn't know) Plus I found I was just making noise over and over again rather then any sounds resembling actual music. After this brief stint of trying to learn in such a traditional way I gave up. The constant complaints about the terrible noise I was making didn't help, however the complaints were completely justified. This is how my guitar got so lonely.
My desire to play the guitar stems from the overwhelming urge to exercise my creativity. Suddenly, last week, after a particularly perspiration filled gym trip I found myself standing in EB games staring longingly at a game that was designed to teach you to play guitar (Rocksmith). Could it be!? It was! I purchased the game, took it home and haven't been able to feel my finger tips since I bought it.
My only qualms about this game is the fact that it's intended for use with the electric guitar, not an Acoustic guitar with an electric pickup. So I put my headphones on (to drown out the sound the guitar itself is making) and began indulging in my fantasy of being a Rockstar.
I'm quite happy with my progress, last night I even made noise that resembled music!

Cooking!
Cooking!
Oh man, this is scary. I'm not even doing anything elaborate!
So recent discovery, the local grocery store sells a pre-cut mix of vegetables called "the stir fry mix" and its all fresh never frozen! I can't help but feel like I'm cheating a little bit, but I gotta say, its much better! and cheaper, no more worries about leftover veggies going bad in the fridge!
If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm making stir fry! again, cheating, premade sauce from a jar and pre-cut vegetables, but hey, I'm a business major, all about efficiency.
only advice about stir fry, mind the veggie water! Apparently cornstarch will thicken it up, but I'm 25 year old man living on my own, the only thing I know about corn starch is thats its starch from corn!
Also on tonight, pork chops and mushshroom soup. Definitely still cheating, canned mushroom soup, precut porc chops, but I DID cut the fat off, point me.
I've got about 6 meals worth of food on the go! Point for the money saving!
Overall, I think I actually enjoyed the cleaning more then the cooking. But definitely fun, I think I'll gradually work my way up to more elaborate food, but for now, this is a good step to a better lifestyle for me!

Sketching
The wonderful world of department store shopping. Having a university degree in business adminastration you learn to loathe and admire large corporate stores. But I have to say, for an aspiring hobbyist who has absolutely no idea what the hobby they aspire to have yet is, they can be wonderful. After watching MIB3 I decided to try my first of several new hobbies.
I bought a sketchbook and a starter artist set. Less then $20, life is good. I'm going to approach this hobby from several different angles. Fantasy art, Architectual art, and scenic art.
Check back soon to see what I tried first!!!

The pursuit begins
Interest is good, passion is essential.
I've been wondering for awhile what I'm passionate about. What is passion? I used to enjoy video games, but is that really a passion? I'd say not personally, I'd say that was an interest. Not a passion. I'm bored, bored of video games, bored of social media, bored of partying like I'm still in university. Life feels like a giant rut. I'm POSITIVE a lot of people who will read this blog are probably thinking the same thing. What now?
I've decided to blog about it. Sure people probably don't read it, blogging seems to be on a huge decline because people are too busy glued to Twitter, Facebook, and videos of people doing stupid things on Youtube. But for anyone out there who is bored, tired of the vast wasteland that is the technological age I invite you Nay! I challenge you to join me on my journey to find something to be passionate about.
